Overview

Job Summary:

 

The Account Manager have a high level of business development or customer support experience.  Primary responsibilities are to meet assigned energy efficiency or key performance targets by proactively engaging and managing relationships with customers and partners. Account Managers work closely with peers and leadership to develop long-term strategic goals for the department that advance Efficiency Vermont’s mission and bring the voice of the customer into the decision-making process. This position also works cross-functionally in both internal and external-facing roles—both as lead or in a support role. This role is tasked with supporting customers and partners to manage energy use in a way that benefits the environment, stimulates the economy and lowers energy costs for Vermonters.

 

Location:

This is a hybrid position, and the ideal candidate will be located in Vermont.

 

Compensation:

At VEIC, we are committed to pay transparency. The starting pay range for this position will be between $60,000-$70,000. Based on market data, pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and location. Please discuss your intended work location with the recruiter for more information. The total compensation package for this position also includes a full range of medical benefits, 403(b) eligibility with match, Combined Time Off (CTO), Care and Concern leave, Parental leave, wellbeing benefit, a community service day, and eight paid holidays that are effective as of your first day of employment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Achieves energy savings, service, and partnership goals as measured against department and team metrics.
  • Develops strategic relationships and becomes a trusted and valued resource for customers, communities and partner organizations.
  • Identifies opportunities within customer and prospective customer base and collaborates with Energy Consultants and other VEIC and sub-contractor staff to ensure timely project completion.
  • Develops subject matter expertise in one or more energy efficiency technology or customer segments to develop and implement initiatives that respond to specific customer or partner needs.
  • Serves as the voice of the customer by collaborating with internal colleagues to ensure products and services offered by Efficiency Vermont address market needs.
  • Extensive collaboration with internal colleagues including Energy Engineers, Consultants, Customer Support, Program Managers, Senior leaders and Regulatory Affairs staff.
  • Seeks to understand the economic and business dynamics of customers and partners and collaborates with Efficiency Vermont leadership to advance broader organizational goals.
  • Participates in Efficiency Vermont outreach events as necessary.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Commitment: Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree and two to seven+ years’ experience in a business to business or professional services field or a combination of education and experience in a related field that demonstrates comparable knowledge and skills.
  • Interpersonal Skill: Displays strong interpersonal skill, through proven experience and positive customer feedback. Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism, and possesses an ability to keep peers/customers motivated toward productive ends while maintaining levels of communication that encourage engagement.
  • Project Management Skill: Excellent use of tools provided to effectively keep projects/relationships on track toward productive ends. Ability to handle competing priorities and proven ability to be organized, detail-oriented and accurate. Proficiency with contact management, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
  • Adaptability/Empathy: Demonstrates curiosity and drive, to not only increase adaptation to internal/external environments but also to discover new opportunities that might otherwise go undiscovered.  Conversant in business finance options and capable of clearly articulating the options and/or willingness to quickly learn similar customer/partner-centric motivations.
  • Consultative Sales Skill: Demonstrated ability to obtain client commitment and bring projects to closure, even with customers/assignments that are more complex or ambiguous. Responsible for the complete ongoing satisfaction of all assigned accounts/relationships.
  • Deliverable/Goal Attainment: Proven ability to be a high performer on teams, demonstrating entrepreneurship and results.
  • Mentorship: May support peers or less senior staff in their own professional development in small ways, toward greater team outcomes
  • Leadership: May represent our department in internal or external meetings, as a subject matter expert, demonstrating a positive collaborative culture and dependability when results are needed.
  • A valid Vermont driver’s license and compliance with the Motor Vehicle Safety guidelines outlined in VEIC’s personnel policies.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: 

 

Internal - Work is normally performed in climate-controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.).  No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of job duties.

 

External – Regular travel (~75%) required
