This is an opportunity to have local impact in the communities of the District of Columbia while working on nationally renowned programs. This position reports to the Managing Director of the DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) and oversees the operational teams delivering a wide range of energy efficiency and renewable programs in support of the client, Department of Energy and the Environment. 

The Senior Director of DCSEU Operations will provide leadership and management to the full suite of DCSEU’s award-winning programs and initiatives and have operational responsibility for: 

• Residential and commercial energy efficiency and renewable programming, including but not limited to the core DCSEU programs funded by the Sustainable Energy Trust Fund, Solar for All, and the Affordable Housing Retrofit Accelorator.
• Program management office, responsible for effectively deploying large-scale clean energy programs with a network of retail partners and subcontractors. 
• Key account management, conducting outreach and building a clean energy project pipeline with key business sectors, government, and nonprofit sectors in the District.
• Engineering, responsible for working with building owners and operators to complete clean energy projects and provide evaluation, measurement, and verification services.

The preferred candidate will reside in Washington, D.C.

• Leads teams of internal staff and external partners to develop annual plans, strategies, and budgets for implementation of SEU operations. 
• Plans, negotiates, and contracts with partnering organizations and other subcontractors to develop and implement program plans. 
• Partnering with Human Resources Business Partner, develops and refines staffing structure for operations unit, and participates in recruitment, training, and mentoring of direct reports to optimize SEU operation results, as measured by contract performance metrics and VEIC values. 
• Develops SEU operations budgets and contractual program goals and is responsible for overall successful financial management of SEU operations. 
• Develops performance metrics, measurable outcomes, and reporting for SEU operations to internal and external groups. 
• Works collaboratively with SEU Managing Director to develop and promote SEU objectives. 
• Solicits and utilizes feedback from internal and external customers to ensure the quality of strategy and effectiveness of program implementation. 
• Coordinates with and informs external constituencies including DOEE and other District departments, electric and gas utilities, Public Service Commission, Office of the People’s Counsel, SEU Advisory Board, and others.  
• Collaborates closely with VEIC’s other operational leaders, support, and line services in sharing best practices, working with vendors, and improving VEIC operations company-wide.  
• Provides support to the activities of VEIC as necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.  

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of ten years of management experience, preferably in operations, five years in the energy efficiency and renewable energy industry, with proven experience in advancing measurable carbon reduction and energy saving goals or a similar combination of education and experience. 
• Demonstrated excellence in managing teams of employees and subcontractors, with proven abilities in leadership, facilitation, staff supervision, contracts, budget management, communication, and the ability to develop and attain goals.  
• Knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable energy program design and implementation, energy analysis and cost-effectiveness screening preferred 
• Demonstrated market management skills, including the ability to think creatively in the development and delivery of market-based services. 
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills. 
• Proficiency with MSOffice package. 
• Strong personal commitment to social and environmental justice.
