Overview

The DCSEU Benchmarking Intern will provide daily support for the Technology and Innovation team in planning, outreach and implementation activities when assisting District building owners with their benchmarking and energy reduction efforts. You will assist in gathering water meter data and property details as well as provide customer support and help train building staff / property managers on how to accurately benchmark properties in ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager tool.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze benchmarking data and respond to calls and inquiries received by either the DCSEU or the DOEE Benchmarking Help Center
  • Prepare program guidance documents, educational materials.
  • Develop outreach strategies to inform buildings >25,000 sq. ft. of DC’s benchmarking requirements.
  • Develop strategies to help commercial and residential building owners reduce their overall energy consumption; and provide technical assistance on special projects and drafting reports.
  • Assist with various project management efforts on an ad hoc basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Technical writing experience or familiarity with energy efficiency concepts and terminology.
  • Research and analysis skills, with strong experience in collecting and reviewing data
  • Experienced in using Excel, databases, and Preferred experience with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager®.
  • General understanding of renewable energy technologies, policies, strategies and public-private partnerships that facilitate adoption and installation of renewable energy systems.
  • Preferred candidate will be DC resident.
