The Marketing and Communications Intern’s primary responsibility is to assist the DCSEU in management of the marketing materials supporting our programs, as well as the annual report. Candidates must be fast learners, organized, energetic, analytical, and proactive. Using creative thinking and exceptional customer focus, the Intern partners with VEIC’s internal Marketing team and serves as an integral member of the Marketing team while contributing to a mission-driven, creative, enjoyable, and stimulating work environment.

• Supports the organization, collection, and production of stories, photos, and video content in support of the DCSEU’s annual report, Solar for All, Refresh the District, Workforce Development, and other DCSEU projects.
• Participates in small design projects, such as program material updates and flyers.
• Displays marketing materials inside and outside the DCSEU office.
• Works closely with the marketing team to support other projects as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC.
• Enrollment in an accredited design degree program and/or related major or a similar combination of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills were acquired.
• A strong understanding of design principles and methodologies.
• Proficient use of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop required) and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software on Mac and PC platform.
• Strong communication skills: ability to convey complex information in accessible and relatable language.
• Prioritization skills: ability to balance and compare competing priorities and accurately collect data to help assess the best path(s) forward.
• Project Management Skills: ability to work independently in a self-motivated and self-confident manner, incubating a project from an idea to a final deliverable.
• Interest in, if not familiarity with, Energy Justice and how it can apply to emerging technologies and services.
