VEIC has a wonderful opportunity for an experienced Information Technology professional. This position can be remote, within the Eastern Standard Time Zone. This role will participate in all aspects of VEIC’s core technology infrastructure including design, purchase, installation, configuration, security, maintenance, and support for all VEIC locations, staff, and subcontractors. Provides technical leadership and mentoring to Information Technology’s infrastructure team.  In collaboration with other members of the IT Team, monitors infrastructure performance and works to ensure availability of systems to support VEIC operations. The Infrastructure Engineer will support and enable a mission-driven, creative, enjoyable, and stimulating work environment.

  • Manage systems and network infrastructure for a multi-site enterprise, leveraging private, public and hybrid cloud 
  • Collaborates with application owners to design, implement and support solutions which enable the achievement of business objectives through the effective use of technology 
  • Implements solutions that are compliant with internal security and design standards and industry best practices 
  • Leveraging VEIC’s technology monitoring platforms, works to ensure early detection and prompt remediation of issues impacting the availability or performance of VEIC systems.  
  • Provides technical leadership and mentoring to Information Technology staff, enabling ongoing support for infrastructure platforms, and continuous professional improvement 
  • Provides oversight of vendor support relationships and project-based work 
  • Supports activities of other staff within VEIC as is necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives. 


  • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology field plus five years of experience managing an infrastructure or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are required. 
  • Proficiency with all aspects of the infrastructure technology stack, as well as best of breed solutions including Microsoft, Cisco, VMWare and major storage vendors  
  • Operational knowledge of or desire to learn public cloud technologies including Office 365, Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)  
  • Willingness to learn and support open-source platforms like Linux, Apache, Docker, Kubernetes and others as needed 
  • Experience supporting a geographically distributed work force leveraging WAN and Remote Access technologies 
  • Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell and a foundational understanding of developer tools and approaches 
  • Ability to collaborate with technologists and business owners around complex technology platforms 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills and customer service approach. 
  • Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
