Overview

The DCSEU is funded to support the Workforce Development Program and the Train Green SEICBP to expand the capacity of the workforce in the District’s green economy. Both programs require course selection, and vendor solicitation, along with participant tracking. The training needs of participants in both programs vary with slight overlap and require a high degree of coordination. This position will support identification of the target audience, number of participants, and the extent of the course catalog.  This role champions the design and delivery of relevant training programs that increase our student’s skillset to be more successful and increase their earning potential.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses training needs in consultation with DCSEU program managers.
  • Tracks participant pre-requisites, demographics, course selections, and certifications.
  • Supports training providers with registration and distribution of course materials.
  • Advises students on issues such as course selection, pre-requisites, and course availability.
  • Assists program managers with maintaining participant records that inform budget planning and execution.
  • Serves as a point of contact for participants enrolled in or seeking information about training courses.
  • Directs and organizes systematic curriculum and program assessment and evaluation activities as needed.
  • Works closely with agencies that provide training to develop partnerships and agreements.
  • Prepares and keep appropriate forms, records, and feedback regarding content, trainers, qualifiers, and training progress.
  • Works with internal marketing team to create printed and digital materials that support training curriculum.
  • Suggests best practices and improvements for consideration to enhance education and training program.
  • Handles various logistical issues as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC.
  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop workforce training courses and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide and support trainees.
  • Skill using Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Skill in budget management.
  • Skill in working effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
