  • Overview

    As a key member of the Human Resources team, the Learning and Development Manager is responsible for the management and execution of our learning delivery environment, as well as establishing methodologies that facilitate staff learning, development and effectiveness. Plans, develops and implements continuous learning strategies for the overall organization that are aimed at attracting, engaging, developing and retaining top talent. Partners with business leaders to ensure training is aligned to VEIC strategy, objectives and compliance requirements.

    Responsibilities

    • Plans, designs, measures and improves the following continuous learning strategies and programs that foster accountable employees who contribute to VEIC’s vision and strategic objectives:
      • Talent assessment and development;
      • Leadership development and succession planning;
      • Onboarding and offboarding;
      • Coaching for development and/or redirection; and
      • Business skills training and resources.
    • Oversees consultants and trainers to ensure that objectives and activities are in alignment with VEIC vision, goals, and culture.
    • Partners with HR Business Partners in support of continuous learning programs (as trainers, coaches, program administrators, etc.)
    • Develop strong partnerships with business areas to clearly understand their business, strategies, priorities and challenges, and communicate regularly with department managers, supervisors, and staff to plan, coordinate and evaluate continuous learning programs. Advise on various talent assessment and development opportunities as required.
    • Manage through organizational change initiatives, identifying opportunities for on-time training interventions and new leader enablement tools.
    • Develops and administers projected Learning and Development budget.
    • Develops success metrics and measurement tools for continuous learning strategies and programs.
    • Plan and coordinate proper venues, timing and modality (i.e. live classroom, webinar, self-guided, experiential and/or digital/eLearning) of the required training programs.
    • Serve as a facilitator across training programs and for various leadership or project teams within the organization as needed.
    • Anticipate training design/development or delivery challenges and work with business owners to identify mitigation strategies.
    • Conduct external research and benchmarking to ensure best practice strategy in technology, tools, and approaches to learning delivery for increased effectiveness.
    • Research and evaluate appropriate off-the-shelf or vendor training programs to meet select training needs. Ensure deliverables are timely, accurate, highly targeted, and meets the objective.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
    • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in talent management, training and development, or relevant field.
    • Strong knowledge of learning and development methodologies; formal design and development approaches, adult learning best practices, industry training technologies used to deploy, maintain and monitor learning.
    • Ability to build strong partnerships and influence, motivate and educate senior leadership, peers and stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage time effectively and exercise broad, independent and good judgment.
    • Ability to effectively implement and manage training programs, learning initiatives and skill/behavior development projects.
    • Strong and creative people leadership skills with demonstrated ability for exceptional teamwork, negotiation, and change management. Must foster an environment that demands a high degree of teamwork and collaboration.
    • Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities.
    • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong facilitation skills.
    • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel.
