    Job Summary:

    This position is responsible for supporting the digital expression of VEIC’s brands and mission. The Front-End Web Developer will have a passion building websites, apps, pages and assets in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, as well as working with new technologies and solving difficult technical problems. This role will plan and execute website design and development in collaboration with designers, writers, developers, project managers and stakeholders.

    Responsibilities

    • Translate Marketing objectives to technical requirements, mockups, prototypes systems & code.
    • Develop and test, efficient, standards-based, secure code;
    • Use flat comps and wireframes to construct pages using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other tools as needed;
    • Design and Develop Email systems and assets for Email Marketing campaigns for all brands, as well as maintain Email templates for our email marketing efforts;
    • Add, update, and maintain content on our web sites within the Sitefinity CMS (ASP.net & MVC);
    • Develop and maintain our Front-End website systems and structures;
    • Design and develop interactive web sites and elements;
    • Ensure compliance with web & brand style guides;
    • Code pages in accordance with effective SEO practices.
    • Provides support to the activities of VEIC as necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives, including emergency and special inquiries.

    Qualifications

    • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC.
    • Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience with front-end web development is required.
    • Proficient with JavaScript, jQuery, and knowledge of modern JavaScript programming patterns, such as client-side MVC, dynamic resource loading, prototypal inheritance, JSONP, etc...
    • Proficient with HTML5/CSS3
    • Modular CSS development techniques
    • Responsive web design knowledge
    • Mobile web development
    • Experience with distributed version control, e.g. Git
    • Experience deploying code in a production environment
    • This position requires a high level of attention to detail, project management, effective verbal and written communication skills along with excellent follow-through and problem solving capabilities.
    • Requires knowledge of current web design and interface development technology, and a passion for learning the latest technology.
    • Capability in graphic design tools, specifically for web implementations, such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
    • Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility issues and strong understanding of web standards is highly desired.
    • Familiarity with client-side scripting and technologies such as JavaScript, AJAX, and related libraries and frameworks such as jQuery is expected.
    • Must have the ability to absorb new technology rapidly and understand business issues.
    • Requires self-direction and the ability to develop and implement applications in a team environment.
    • Must be flexible and react positively to change.
