What you will do in this job:

You will direct and manage all accounting and financial transactional processes for VEIC and its subsidiaries including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury and asset management as well as the financial systems used to support these functions. 

You will ensure that appropriate internal financial control procedures are in place and operational.  You are responsible for VEIC’s implementation of the Federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) grant operations rules, regulations, cost principles and audit requirements as detailed in applicable OMB Circulars and required by VEIC clients.  You will ensure all general ledger activities for VEIC and subsidiary corporations are in accord with GAAP and that governing policies, procedures and documentation are up to date, properly communicated and organizationally enforced. 

You are a resource to VEIC Sr. Leadership and provide guidance to accommodate corporate and contract objectives.

What a day might look like:

  • Mitigating Organizational Risk
    • Ensuring all accounting and general ledger activities are compliant with organizational and contractual standards and mandates
    • Directing all audit preparation and response activity.
    • Guiding the review of financial terms and conditions with prime and subcontracts, proposals and grant applications.
    • Implementing and maintaining internal control processes, procedures and documentation.
    • Managing quality control and continuous improvement processes for finance and accounting functions.
  • Financial Systems Management
    • Leading VEIC financial ERP development
    • Developing and/or Outsourcing of Subsidiary accounting systems
    • Participating in VEIC Enterprise Data Warehouse development
  • Providing leadership for assigned staff in for both daily activities and long term professional development. Including:
    • Providing real-time constructive feedback on an ongoing basis.
    • Developing and communicating clear guidelines and expectations.
    • Assessing individual training needs and coordinating training as needed.
    • Helping team members develop interpersonal, administrative, and technical skills.
    • Helping employees set individual professional development and team goals to maximize the performance, efficiency and work quality of the team.
  • Directing regulatory and contractual required financial reporting to all outside agencies.

  • You have a minimum of 10 years of management experience. Even better if you have current CPA/CMA certification.

  • You are all over the pertinent laws, regulations and filing and compliance requirements affecting corporate accounting, GAAP and Federal Office of Management and Budget circulars.
  • You pay attention to details and work hard to ensure that nothing falls through the cracks.
  • You have strong initiative and the ability to anticipate issues proactively and act in a timely manner
  • Ever-changing and evolving environments don’t stress you out.

  • You are able to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences within the organization.


Ideally, You Will Have:

  • Demonstrated experience managing teams of people and providing customer service
  • Track record of achievement – projects led, transitions managed
