Responsibilities

What you will do in this job:

An Energy Consultant advises on energy efficiency improvements in new construction and existing commercial, industrial and multi-family facilities across the state of Vermont. For this position, we are looking for someone with an electrical engineering background that will work on electric transportation projects and distributed energy resource planning, as well as some of the more traiditionl energy efficiency projects.

 

What a day might look like:

  • You will work with a wide range of customers, including business owners, architects, engineers, vendors, trade allies, and others to arrive at solutions to reduce energy costs and usage. This will involve some site visits as well as phone discussions with our customers.
  • You will perform energy and financial analyses to estimate a return on investment for the customers we work with.
  • You will play an active role in identifying innovative technical solutions, keeping apprised of new technical products like heat pumps, lighting designs solutions, heating and cooling equipment, controls, etc.
  • You would be a trusted partner to our customers, forming strong business relationships based on results.
  • You will determine, present, and negotiate the appropriate rebates based on project details.
  • You will present technical information to customers externally and potentially train junior team members internally.
  • You will make a difference! To the community, the economic development of Vermont, and to the health of the environment!

Qualifications

This job Might be right for you if:

  • You have a strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC.
  • You have a minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in identifying opportunities for energy improvements.
  • You enjoy learning about new efficient technologies and thinking about power conversions.
  • You are interested in distributed energy resources (DER) which includes, renewable energy generation, energy storage and micro-grids.
  • You have excellent analytical skills and are comfortable using Excel, modeling tools, or similar database software to inform technical solutions.
  • Ever-changing and evolving environments don’t stress you out; they excite and inspire you.
  • You communicate clearly through well-written emails, over the phone or one-one conversations and group presentations. And, you don’t mind having to repeat the same information in a couple of different ways.
  • People know they can depend on you – and you have the track record to prove it.
  • You appreciate and find opportunities for innovation in working with individuals with backgrounds and experiences different from your own.

 

Ideally, You Will Have:

  • For this specific job opening, we are looking for someone with experience in electrical engineering. Bonus points if you are interested in grid integration and distributed energy resources.
